Busy Weekend!

Since I have most Fridays off and work most Saturdays, I consider my weekends to start on Friday. :) This Friday, we got our garage door fixed. Its been months since we were last able to get into the thing! We missed out on going to storytime at Mom's library for it, but a working garage door was worth it! Can't wait for Adrian to finish cleaning it out so that we can once again park inside! While our door was being fixed, Ayden and I worked on peeling apples for applesauce. (It is so fun to hear him say that word!!!) He helped me peel over 20 apples! It takes a lot of apples to make a little applesauce! After the apples, it was time for his nap, so we let the apples simmer while he slept. When he woke up he was able to enjoy a bowl of his hard work!

After our snack, we went outside to tackle the leaves in the front yard. Ayden is way more enthusiastic about doing yard work than his daddy is! Zach on the other hand was content to just "hang" out and watch us do all the work! I thought that once I had a good pile of leaves going, Ayden would just jump on in since he got to play in the leaves at Grandma's house, but I had to "toss" him into a pile in order to get him intrested. Once in, and out, he found that he rather be in the leaves and procedded to walk through ALL the piles! He enjoyed raking the leaves out of the pile and loved taking arm loads of leaves out of the bags once I had them in. Ayden also had a lot of fun playing with the neighbor girl, copying everything she did!

Once Daddy made it home, we went back out the the fabric store. I was able to get a lot of patterns and tons of flannel and fleece throughout the week. I can't wait to get started...on the agenda, we have a new coat for Zach, a pillowcase/blanket set that will work first on his bassinet, and later on a big boy bed, and fleece diaper covers since it is becoming apparent that he cannot wear the Gerber covers without getting a nasty rash. (The fleece covers are ten times cuter than the plain white plastic covers anyway!) I also have material to do lots of jammies for Ayden with a few pieces of material big enough to make matching jammies for Zach as well. Also slated for Ayden is a robe and an extra blanket similar to the one Aunt Shannon made him for his birthday. Sadly his birthday blanket needs washed way too often and Mommy does not want it ruined. Hopefully, if he has two we can get a little more use/time out of the blanket from Aunt Shannon. As a blanket filler, instead of using the awesome batting that Aunt Shannon uses, Mom is only going to use a layer of extra fleece instead. The blanket wont be nearly as nice or as warm, but it will work! Really I am just super excited to get some time in with my new sewing machine. With all the awesome sales going on, I did pick up some cheap yarn to work on my knitting skills. I think that over the past 20 years, there has been no improvement in that department. Apparently, yarn and I don't get along well. I can do the latch-hook mats, and the spool knitting, but that seems to be the extent of my abilities. :) I suppose I will leave the knitting to my more gifted friends!

Sunday was a pretty uneventful day. Hoped for news that the neighbor had her little one, but that news never came...the little stinker has now gotten too comfy in there after all of his threats of coming early. I suspect that his mommy will have lots of stories for him about all of his shenanigans pre-birth! I think that all of this just means that he is going to be one spunky kid! I can't wait!!

On our side of the driveway, we spent the day hanging out with the boys and puttering around our house. With Zach's baptism and brunch coming up, we want to start getting things ready enough in advance that we wont be running around like crazy people when his day rolls around. I know that no matter what we do, we will still be running around, but hopefully we will be able to get some of our bigger projects wrapped up and cleaned up before we are supposed to have people here! Our biggest project will be installing the sink in the downstairs bathroom. Adrian installed the toilet a few weeks ago, so once it has the sink it will be usable for toileting only! We are working on getting a bathtub in there, but it is a slow work in progress. :)
